Stories that sound
Stories aren’t just read – they are heard, touched, lived. In this workshop, we adapt tales so that little ones can explore them through sounds, textures and movement. A space where imagination awakens and the senses meet.
Jakten
At Lindängen Library in Malmö, we created a workshop based on the book Jakten (The Hunt) by Sanna Borell. The story: an animal steals a strawberry and everyone chases her… until they discover it was to feed her young.
To help the children live the story, we transformed the room into four different spaces connected to the tale:
- A clearing where the story began
- A dark cave
- A forest
- A final campfire for reflection
As we told the story, live music (with drums and an octapad) changed with each scene. We composed songs for key moments and made puppets of the characters that the children could touch and hug.
The children (aged 3–6) explored each space, chased the protagonist, felt the rhythm of the pursuit… and at the end, around the campfire, they understood together why she had stolen the strawberry.
It was a magical experience, where music and story became a shared journey.

Practical information
Session length: 30–45 minutes (depending on age)
Group size: 6–10 participants (with accompanying adult if young)
Space: a large room that we can transform into different environments
Materials: I bring instruments, puppets and soundscapes
