Music in groups for young people, each in their own way

In these activities, the focus is on experience and joy. Everyone can take part according to their own abilities and needs. The facilitator uses interactive models so that, through music, children, young people, parents, siblings and others in their community can enjoy the creative and developmental power of music together.

No two sessions are the same. Sometimes we explore instruments, other times we move to the rhythm of a song, and sometimes we simply listen and feel. Always with respect for each person and their own pace.

Sjöbo Library

Two groups of students from the city’s adapted school came to the library once a week. We had a space prepared to welcome them each week. The sessions combined music, movement and plenty of freedom for each child to take part in their own way.

RBU in Lund

In Lund, through RBU, we developed sessions with young people with cerebral palsy. The work focused on:

  • Balance and coordination through rhythm
  • Musical contrasts (fast-slow, loud-soft) to experience with the body
  • Musical dialogue where they led the way and I accompanied
  • Participation of siblings and parents, because music is also a bridge within the family

In both cases, the essential thing was connection: music as an excuse to be together, explore, feel and create.

What we work on?

Balance, coordination and body awareness

Expression and communication through sound and movement

Attention, listening and response skills

Socializing and shared play

Enjoyment of music and creation

Who it’s for?

Special education schools looking for an external music activity
Associations working with children and young people with diverse abilities
Libraries, cultural centres or community spaces wanting to offer an inclusive activity
Private groups (families, friends) seeking an adapted musical experience
